The air con in your hotel room usually only one unit above the bed. it works better when doors and windows are shut.
Depending on the characteristics of the air conditioner, the remote control may show a number of symbols that vary according to its various features. Essentially, however, there are certain symbols found on all air conditioner remotes that identify the basic functions of the air conditioner. Given that sometimes you cannot distinguish one feature from another, we have sought in this article to explain the symbols and therefore the functions matched to each of them. The remote control offered with the product expresses the features essential to the air conditioner’s performance with buttons, each of which is specific to a function. In other remote controls, except for the very old ones, some symbols may be grouped on a single button, using which, by pressing it repeatedly, you can scroll through the functions in order to select the one that you desire.
Starting from the top, going from left to right, the functions of the appliance (relating to the air treatment) are indicated. In particular you will find:
The heater represented by the symbol of the sun. In this case the symbol is shown in pink to identify its relationship with heat. Not all remote controls use such a color system for the various buttons, and simply display the symbol in a dark color. In any case the symbol (or image) identifies the function.
The dehumidifier, the droplet symbolises water and thus is the symbol used for the setting that is programmed in the air conditioner directing it to collect moisture from the environment. In this case a colour is also used, which is located in the middle of the pink one and is sky blue. This use of teal (easily associated with water) allows you to intuivitely and easily identify the function.
The cooling function (or typical ac function) is identified by the snow or snowflake symbol.
Continuing you find the power button used to switch the air conditioner on and off, which in this case is represented by an underlined circle, but in most cases remote controls display the symbol of a circle with a vertical line in the middle.
The two clock symbols, which on some remote controls are referred to as the timer, allow you to program when the air conditioner will switch on and off.
In this case the lower one with the arrow after the 12 identifies the time for switching on the appliance while the other, with the arrow before the 12 indicates the time at which the system should switch off. (The timer can be a 12 or 24-hour on-off timer). This function, however, may differ from air conditioner to air conditioner and thus needs to be researched in more detail according to the specific characteristics of the device.
The temperature is indicated by the ° C symbol, which is usually positioned on a larger button than those used for the other functions. This assumes a vertical or horizontal form, at whose ends there are arrows to raise or lower the temperature.
The fan clearly indicates and controls the flow of air to enter into the environment. Pressing the button several times you can cycle through the different fan speeds, those available are low, medium, high and automatic/ auto speeds. In some air conditioners intermediate speeds are also available between those indicated. Without referring to the high, medium and low speeds, since their (rate of) airflow is easily identifiable, let us pause to clarify what is meant by the term “auto speed”. This provides for a fully automatic management of the fan speed, setting the maximum, high capacity in the initial phase, and then decreasing slowly as it reaches the temperature in the environment until it reaches the minimum speed. This takes place according to the temperature set on the remote control.
The swing button is indicated by the icon of the two opposing, barred arrows; on some air conditioners it is indicated with the word swing. This icon corresponds to a setting that allows th air conditioner to oscillate from top to bottom and vice verse which enables the air to be distributed from different angles. If the button is pressed during the oscillation stage, the flaps will be locked in that position.
As was said at the beginning, in addition to these (which display the basic functions fixed air conditioning and heat pump systems,) there are remote controls that are much more complex, with many more buttons to allow the setting of other functions
